The Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District, commonly referred to as the Sutphin Boulevard BID is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that promotes economic development of Sutphin Boulevard in downtown Jamaica, Queens. Founded in 2004 the BID was created to enhance the quality of life for its members, the community, local businesses and residents. Serving approximately 136 businesses, 56 properties and 39 property owners the BID was established to make the area clean and safe. Managed by the Sutphin Boulevard District Management Association, Inc. (DMA), the BID serves as an information source, providing it constituents with business support and access to cost saving programs through business assistance seminars. Primarily funded by a special tax assessment paid by property owners in the district, the BID services Sutphin Boulevard from the north side of hillside to the south side of 94th avenue. The BID provides supplemental sanitation, marketing/promotion, security and holiday lighting services to the district. The BID acts as an advocate on behalf of its constituents and serves as a catalyst for economic revitalization along Sutphin Boulevard. |
