Security

Due to the diligence of the 103rd Precinct of the New York City Police Department, crime continuously decreases within the District. The BID welcomes patrolmen from the precinct’s “Downtown Unit” who address issues that include illegal vending, traffic violations and quality of life concerns. While the BID is very proud of the safety conditions in the area, efforts will continue to encourage partnerships and provide resources to make the area a safe place to live, work and visit.

Security Council

In addition to working with the NYPD, the BID has assembled the Sutphin Boulevard Security Council to assist in the safety of the area. This council is made up of officers from the Port Authority Police Department, the MTA/LIRR Police Department, the NYPD and the New York State Court Officers.  This group consisting of all the security agencies within the District, meet quarterly to discuss jurisdictional issues and plan ways to better secure Sutphin Boulevard. A primary focus of the group has been to formulate plans to provide more law enforcement presence at the Sutphin/Archer intersection.
